5 Tips for Your First Dance
1. Pick a Song with a Good Beat
It is easier to dance to a song with a good beat. And everyone enjoys your dance more when he or she can hear and feel the beat.
2. Keep it Short
Try to watch a first dance online and see how long you stay attentive. Some dance instructors and DJs recommend a dance of 1 to 2 minutes.
3. Remember Your Guests
Remember to face everyone for at least a moment. While it is romantic to look into each other’s eyes, take the time to look or smile at your guests.
4. Create Memorable Moments
Pause and pose at appropriate moments for your guests to capture you on camera. This keeps them engaged. For a nice entrance, you can walk slowly to the center of the dance floor. End your dance with a turn or dip.
5. Be Creative
Try combining different dance styles (such as foxtrot and swing) to the same song. You can also use two different songs – start with a slow dance and transition to salsa or swing. At the end of the dance – ask the bridal party or guests to join you on the floor.
While being creative, avoid complicated steps and select dance moves that you can execute easily.
